Summary:

Division: Atlanta, GA

The Estimator – Underground Utilities is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for underground utility projects, including water, sewer, storm drainage, and related infrastructure. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop competitive bids and budgets that align with company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating & Bid Preparation:

o Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents for underground utility projects.

o Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment.

o Prepare cost estimates and bid proposals using industry-standard software.

o Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.

Project Analysis & Risk Management:

o Identify potential risks in scope, schedule, and pricing; recommend mitigation strategies.

o Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company standards.

Collaboration & Communication:

o Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams during preconstruction phases.

o Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather critical information.

Documentation & Reporting:

o Maintain organized records of estimates, bid documents, and cost data for future reference.

o Provide clear and timely updates to management on bid status and progress.

Requirements:

· Minimum 3–5 years of experience in estimating underground utility projects.

· Strong knowledge of utility installation methods, materials, and industry standards.

· Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., AGTEK, ProEstimate) and Microsoft Office Suite.

· Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines.
